Women Religious in Crisis
The recent mandate from the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith issued this week to the Leadership Conference of Women Religious is relevant to the InthePersonofChrist (IPC) website. Its relevancy is based on an understanding that many of the religious orders that have lost their way in living out the evangelical counsels and their congregation’s constitutions are the same orders that have produced many of the women that promote the ordination of women or believe that the Church is wrong about its teaching.
Members of the laity are also involved in promoting women’s ordination, but IPC would like to help the site readers see the active ties between many religious orders and the active lobbying by women religious at the Vatican, to the Holy Father for women’s ordination. It is IPC’s hope and prayer that the site readers will grasp the incompatability of lobbying for women’s ordination movement with living a consecrated religious life.
In addition, what has led to the orders in the membership of the LCWR to stray from their charisms as a group and individually? What role as feminism played? We will continue to post relevant commentary to help answer these questions to help in our effort to build up the Church. Our first recommendation is to listen to this Podcast from Jimmy Akin from The National Catholic Register as he interviews Ann Carey regarding the LCWR. Click here
